JANUARY ...OUR FIRST HATCHING OF 2013 ANYONE? come join!!

I didn't order from a hatchery- the SFH eggs that didn't make it I got from a lady in FL. The Isbars from ebay, also the lav orps. The bantam choc orps I am getting from a man on here at BYC. I ordered the SFH chicks from a man on Rare Breed Auction. I could not find anyone local to me that has anything I was really wanting, so those were the places I had to go to in order to get what I wanted.
I candeled several of my silkies eggs last night, day 3, and all are showing signs of developing

I'll check the others tonight. I put in the 6 lav orps a while ago too. I'm so excited I can't stand myself

Sticks, my silkies are due to hatch on the 26th too

woohoo!! I'm glad I'm not the only one who can't keep my hands off the eggs

I'm just soo happy so many are showing development :) already can't wait to hatch out some more ducks after my chickies decide to grace me w/ their presence hehe

i have eggs that were due 2 days ago. Nothing yet from them. I'm having issues, I want to open it up and candle them but don't know what i'd be looking for after day 18. They are on day 23. They were healthy almost clean eggs. I collected them myself from my moms, checked for eggs that day twice (two hours apart). the eggs were in the nest no longer then 2 hours. It had fresh sawdust in it. I don't know what else can be done to insure a great hatch.

Oh but construction did start monday here. :( They are shaking my house several times a day while working on the road. I'm scared with how hard the house is shaking that it messed up my hatch, also that my house will start falling apart. :( Stuff on my shelves has fallin off so many times this week that i quit picking things up. that is how bad it's shaking my house.

Wow, that's crazy! Candle a few of the eggs. If they aren't internally pipping, the result will probably end up bad. :/

I candled them and they look like heads are all 3 up by the airsac. They fill most of the egg. Sound about right for being ready to hatch? I mean they were free eggs so no huge loss I just want some eggs to hatch. I'm tired of the "i told you so" response from people about winter hatching.

Just put Araucana eggs in the Sportsman on Monday and the post office just called to tell me my Blue/Barred Rock eggs are in so they will go in tonight. I told myself when I unplugged my bator after the NYD hatch, that it would be turned off for a few months. Then people started offering some good eggs on the Paypal swap thread and I just had to have them. I hatched out 2 Buff Orp chicks and 4 Gold Laced Orps in my NYD hatch. I can't wait to see them when they feather out.

As for brooders I have 6 going in my spare bedroom...LOL. 2 of those will become empty by the end of this week when their coop is finished. I am trying to find someone that has a pick up truck so I can go to Lowes and get some plywood. I can fit 2x4's and PVC in my car but the plywood is too big.
Lowes will cut it in half or however you want it FREE!
I have Scion Xb so some room in back but not for a full piece of ply so they cut it and i take it home. that way they even cut it i n2x4 sections however my coops are all tractors 2x4 x2 so works out great for me.
You are just like me with all the chicks inside...only luckily you can put them out not so cold!! Im praying for a VERY early spring like last year.!!
