Im hatching some quails started JAN 3 at 6:30 PM . Good luck!

Quail!! So exciting, I have been wanting to get some for some time now. This spring I will start building an aviary so I can continue w/ becoming a bird lady

What kind are they?

I candled them and they look like heads are all 3 up by the airsac. They fill most of the egg. Sound about right for being ready to hatch? I mean they were free eggs so no huge loss I just want some eggs to hatch. I'm tired of the "i told you so" response from people about winter hatching.

I hope all goes well. Put them up to your ears - you should be able to hear them peeping if things are still moving along.

Hey, my first incubating experience was @ the end of Nov. I put in 10 Cayuga duck eggs (3 were older ones from the fridge I thought I'd give a go) Of the 3 fridge eggs, 1 developed, the other 2 were just to darn old & cold lol) On Dec 16th -> all 8 duckies hatched, 1 w/ a gimp leg due to how she was inside the egg. Here's for a good turn out of sneaky lil chicks

i'm giving my eggs til sunday night if nobody hatches i'm opening them up. I don't want to mess with them to much.

Well nobody give up hope This is day 22 and one of mine just is zipping and one has a star crack.My temp day 18 was at 98 for at least 24 hours.I guess it delayed the hatch.

I am trying to sit here and be calm not give my self a heart attack...sit on my hands too.. maybe tie them tothe chair .NOT go in and look!!....

This hatching is so stressful.!!!

Its mid DAY 22.
I started my eggs at 10 pm so this is almost 1/2 way thru day 22
...
One is almost hatched of the BBS Orps one i saw move last night, but thought it could be my imagination. as day 21 was over by an hour
Another has 2 star cracks in it too now ..trying to zip...the first one the shell is cracked every direction its SO close but idont see its face and am so afraid it will die like one last time turned with its head away from the hole!..... AND its a Splash!! I have the one splash from last week and 2 blacks and i REALLY want splashes and blue the most

I want to open that bator SO BAD and help .My fingers are itching but the other is star cracked and i might shrink it AAHHH
.I will be so mad if it dies hatching so close but i guess its made it this far that shell has crack all over from him pushingBarely hanging in there few more pushes... I just cant look its freaking me out
If it were black i wouldnt be so anxious i guess ,Wish i could see its beak!

How can this be so exciting and stressful after 13 ? 14 hatches GEEZ youd think id get over it.Last night when igave up pretty much i wasnt feeling much about it.just dang lost money.....but now with one almost there....YIPPEEE BABIESSSS

And winter hatches ? I have hatched babies all winter this winter.got some every time but one and that one were all infertile every one as were another ladies who got from that same person...Roo probleme suspect.

Anyway winter hatch is still as good as my summer hatches were. ...All shipped but one so not great but all about the same 30 %-35% average IE 3-5 average chicks.

Still yet to set my own ...will when the girls lay SOON
I hear the average hatch rate on them about 85 % .

i'm now on day 24 On day 26 (sunday) I'm going to open them carefully and if no life toss them, if sign of life try to help them out of the shell because at that point they'd just simply need to get out.

I'm a day behind you draye -How's time passing for you? It feels like time is dragging-> when when it comes to the eggs & flies by w/ everything else it seems UGH!

This afternoon I checked the 1/2 that didn't show any veining the other day & now so far 34 out of 42 are going good!!!! This is very exciting since I would be happy if even 1 was developing!

Chicks the 26th & a week later 1-3 litters of rabbits are due! Busy bee
