Japanese mixed Bantam

Well, I am pretty sure you can leave the polish out of the parent possibilities--you would see crests. Any bird with yellow skin (or carrying a hidden copy of the gene) and dark legs could be one of the parents. If Buffs Orpingtons are the only buff birds, then I think that is possible, although leg colour is an issue. Do you know whether she hatched from a standard or bantam egg? I don't think mama had to be a japanese, but one of her parents certainly is.

I know she hatched from a bantam egg! And The Buff Orps are the only buff birds that I have! Well her mom was a blue cochin, and I'm pretty sure the green legs are from my EE boys!

Hmmm I just re-read the thread, and I am wondering if you had another hen slip an egg into the nest. I doubt that she has any blue cochin anywhere in her. If you have so many mixes in there, then you wouldn't really know where the buff is popping out from, I would look at the other characteristics before judging color and she is displaying some very Japanese traits and the leg coloring of an EE, and just because they usually lay tinted eggs doesn't mean they always do.

Do you think she will lay green eggs? Here is what I'm thinking, The buff color comes from my Buff Orpingtons, I have 1 black tailed jap hen and 2 white jap hens. And her father was probably one of my EE roos. Do you think she will get any bigger? I can't put her in the coop because she is too small, she can get through the wire!!!!! She will be 4 months old is a few days. Will she grow any more?
