What is your main flock? Bantams, large fowl? My own opinion of Rhode Island Reds is that they tend to be aggressive, so I would not risk having one for a rooster. But others may see this breed differently.

I have 1 cream legbar, 1 golden sebright mix,2 golden comets, 1 whiting true blue, 1 california white, 2 golden wyandottes,1 sapphire gem, and 1 I.S.A. brown. All are large fowl and my current rooster is a buff japense banhtam. I hatched 1 of his offspring out of my cream legbar hen. That chick is so pretty! just dont know if she would be a good layer.

To sell some good egg layer/qaulity chicks to people who need chickens and make money off my chickens.

Purebred birds sell a lot better than BYM. Feather sexing is not the most reliable and only works on a few breeds.

Feather sexing only works if you breed a fast feathering male over a slow feathering female, so it’s not super feasible for a backyard breeder.

I say focus on your Wyandottes and/or Legbars, you ain't gonna make much by selling backyard mixes. Also feather sexing only when you breed a quick to feather male to a slow to feather female
