Java Green peafowl questions

So I know have all Pavo muticus .......black strips on his wing thumb
To the import peas
An Import must not be confused with an Import from a place of the origin where the peas are live in his habitat.
Many people talk from import peas but they are only from another county and his is from my view a wrong thinking.

I would say watch out for Hopkins livestock and Bow's Peafowl. Those two I suspect may be hybrids. Texas Peafowl Farm also seems a bit suspect as well. That said, there are forms of Green Peafowl out there that resemble hybrids, and sadly they are often dismissed as such.

I strongly discourage calling all Green Peafowl "Java Green". That name should only be reserved for the Green Peafowl that originate from Java. A lot of birds are imported with their origins unknown and selectively bred to create the three so-called subspecies in captivity. Rodney Michael, Wolfgang Mennig, etc are all varying degrees of Java, Malaysian and annamensis Peafowl intermixed.

I found a photo the other day:

I thought I would go ahead and post it here since we are talking about green peafowl. This photo is of a bird at the Houston Zoo. What amazed me is the size of this peacock's crest. Does anyone know where they got their green peafowl from? I also thought his right foot looked funny...The toes look like they have frost bite to me because they are very thin looking on that side but maybe that is just me.

Yes Blue Creek Farm from here recently got Himalayan Monals and he said they dig all over the pen. Destinduck had some once too.
The person's website that these photos came off of has the goal to document all the diversity of animals by visiting mainly zoos and taking photos of the animals. They have great professional photos of the animals.

Sorry to veer off topic, but the person who took that photo of the Houston Zoo green pea has an interesting website:

Never seen this before - Himalayan Monal, from his website...

Also known as an Impeyan pheasant, perhaps you've heard of them by that name? I almost bought some eggs off ebay, the seller lived like 25 miles from me, but wouldn't allow me to pick them up. That makes me a bit suspicious and they are expensive, so I hated to put them through the postal service blender.

If you all want to see photos of Blue Creek's Impeyans check out this page of his pheasants topic: https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/731223/my-pheasants/30 They are very pretty birds which definitely rival peafowl as far as color.

----------

Yesterday I found a peafowl breeder's website and they are in Spain. They raise all three subspecies of green peafowl. Here is the site link: http://www.muticus-pina.com/

Here is the Muticus Muticus page: http://www.muticus-pina.com/indice2.htm
Muticus Imperator: http://www.muticus-pina.com/indice2.htm
Muticus Spicifer: http://www.muticus-pina.com/indice2.htm

The photos act up when I try to click on them, but generally if you click on it and it gets big then goes away, just click on it again and it should stay up.

Here are photos of their facilities: http://www.muticus-pina.com/indice2.htm

That one person who wanted to raise green peafowl indoors was in Spain right? Maybe this is where they were planning on getting birds from.

The Green Peafowl from the Houston Zoo looks a little misshapen in his proportions. I think he stand a little unhappy to the camera.
But it have some peas with very long crests. Last year a two years old male of mine his crest was 16 cm long and this year she is more long. Also I have a femal with a very long crest.
Here two pics from our imperator male

If they eat the crest is it to 99 percent a keeping problem.
Too many peas in the offspring boxes also boredom
Too small aviaries in which they have to live.
No view protection between the aviaries
etc .....
