We can barely fit in a little 12x30 veggie garden. And, wow, what a coop and run you're going to have! We are only going to be able to have about 5 hens (waiting to see which ones out of 10 chicks turn out to be roos). I would love to have about 10 or 15!
Congrats on the start Jen. I remember how anxious you were to get started on it. I am sure you are relieved to let the chicks stretch their legs( and wings ) and not keep them cooped up all of the time. Looks like they will have lots of room to play even as adults. Are you planning on putting a lid on the run? I did with mine and thats how it recieved its slang name "crab pot". I will post pics. This simple step makes the run completely immune to aerial attacks by either hawks, or owls. I was really glad I spent the extra time on this step as we accidently left a black giant chick out all night and I know the owls were swarming, lol. I felt so bad, lol. Anyway, just a suggestion. Hope it helps. Great work by the way.
Yes did think about the top of the coop, we are going to put something there as soon as we have the money... I'm guessing some kind of netting. I hate that it will be without a netting for alittle while. I dont want anything swooping in and grabbing one
. We are building the coop in the middle of the run hoping it will give the chickens alittle more protection and its raised off the ground so the plan is for the chickens to run under the coop if something does swoop in... Know I just have to get the chickens to understand that
