Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to our flock. I used to have some Black Jersey Giants and they were truly gentle giants. BYC has an entire section on Jersey Giants at https://www.backyardchickens.com/products/jersey-giant. You should consider getting some more hens to go with that rooster. The recommended ratio of roosters to hens is 1 rooster for every 10 hens. As he matures, your rooster will become very hard physically on your hen, over-breeding her, biting and plucking the feathers from her neck and back, battering her, and potentially, seriously injuring her. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Are your Jersey Giants black or white?
