DANG. Good quality JG chicks (from Wynette!) grow FAST and get BIG fast! I can hardly believe my six JG chicks are only 5 weeks old. Well, except that their feathering is consistent with their age. They're just BIG and TALL.

They are going to tower over the feed store BJG I bought "for comparison" before I received the eggs from which these hatched. The feed store BJG is several weeks older - out in the yard ranging with a LB and five Olive Eggers with which they were brooded - and these six JGs are rapidly outgrowing the brooder. Luckily they all like each other

so they aren't fighting over space. They just stand up and can almost look over the edge of the brooder already...

I have 1 black, 2 blues, and 3 splash JG chicks.

This is a picture of them a couple of weeks ago.

Jersey Giants rarely get into squabbles, they are very easy going.

I've watched the smaller birds run mine around all of the time.

When they do get fed up, they quickly put the offender in its place and go right back to being docile. This usually surprises the little antagonizing birds and they go bother another bird.

These hatched on 9/24/10, so they're exactly one month old, today.

Here's a little better look at how the splash chicks are feathering.

And the splashes are much more brave than the darker chicks!
