Jersey Giant?

I got this little fuzzy butt from the feed store and it was marked as a Black Jersey Giant "straight run". But now that it has some of its primary feathers on, I'm wondering if it is a JG at all.

Most black birds have white wing feathers as chicks

They molt out when the bird matures. Looks like a JG to me...

Glad to hear that, I only got the one JG and planned on keeping for a long time, I hoping its a Rooster too.

What color are the legs and feet? If it lacks yellow on the bottoms of the feet, then it is possible it is not a JG. Many black chicks start out with white down and get some white feathers to begin with, but lose them over time.

There is some black on his legs but most of it's legs are yellow including the bottom of the feet.

) The Color of a chick's feet is highly unpredictable and very likely to change. gotta be wary about that fact

Sounds pretty likely it is JG then. I do like mine as far as personality goes, I just have too many breeds and need to cut back.
