Thank you! I wish I could keep roosters here, they are so gorgeous! And your chickens are lucky coz they get to free range.

They're actually fenced in, but in 7000 SQ FT. I only have 10 chickens and 5 ducks in that area. We fenced in part of the woods and our yard, it's more to keep dogs out than anything else. I call it fenced free range.

Fence free range is the best! They are more or less safe and still get the feel of being in the nature and can get all types of bugs.

I have fishing line up to distract them a bit, it's not 100% fool proof but it seems to help. A vulture tried to come in that area, but was unable to and flew off. Not sure what it was thinking because they don't usually go after live animals.

If they have yellow or yellowish foot bottoms then BJG. If they have pink or pinkish foot bottoms, then they're Austrolorps. The combs will grow out as they age.

Could be lighting, but it looked pinkish to me. I'm not certain.
