Jersey Giants thread for pictures and discussion

They are on the ground , and have a heat lamp in the house , I will try the boiled egg rging ( have plenty of them ). I have some sexlinks and some cochen bantoms that actually chase me , came out of the incubator the same day .

when my giants were all in the grow out pen they would come running whenever I entered the gate I would practically trip over them when it was feeding time. I called them the horde I stepped on many a foot when they crowded around me.lol

All of my Giants seem to be like this - I have them from a few different breeders, but they all seem to share the same laid-back, docile, and curious nature, which I adore about them! There are times I can't get my splash cockerel to go to the coop at night...he's following me around in the run, asking for treats in the pitch dark! Silly boy!

So what happened at the National meet???

I heard there was going to be a qualifying meet for the color Splash this December; is this where it was going to take place? I have a lot of Splash birds right now, so this is an issue near to my heart.

Best - exop

She's also only 4 months old and started laying an egg a day 4 days ago. Isn't that young?

4 months old is early for ANY breed to begin laying. Are you sure of the age?

WOW, I just realized. It was a year ago today that I started this thread.

Took a picture of Leggs and his mate today. Leggs is the slowest growing guy I have had, I believe. He is going to be a pretty big boy, I think.

Oops.. excuse me.. 5 months. I was thinking August hatch date. It was actually July 11th. (had to look)

So.. 22 weeks Is that early? My Silver Pencil Plymouth Rocks who hatched 5-20-10 aren't laying yet.

Hey exop,
I wish I was closer to you. I'd take that splash boy off your hands. Can't afford price plus shipping to NJ, testing. He is cool. I am amazed how bright the yellow is on his feet. Mine are yellow but not like that. I got four eggs from a breeder selling eggs on ebay. Two made it, one blue one splash, both pullets. Both have yellow on the bottom of their feet. Then I got some eggs from splash giants from this site. Again two made it. One cockerel one pullet. Neither have yellow on their feet. The cockerel's comb only has four points. Kind of looking for some better sq birds to breed with the other hens. Good luck.

Here is what they grew into at 9 months old now.

The little one in the back of the trio of pullets is refeathering after a her first molt. They all are finishing up with 1st molts.
