Okay, now THAT is hilarious - especially the nurse!

You're right, Tinman...just when you think they won't get any bigger....they'll surprise you!

I often look at my girls when I range them, and think how nice they are looking - and wonder if they'll get larger. Then, another breed will meander over near them, and my mouth drops open! They're already huge! Gotta love Jerseys!

My 24 week old black JG started laying last week. I had built a larger nesting box and added it on to my coop during the summer. We found a couple of eggs in it last week and I had my suspicions that it was her but was not sure, Yesterday when I was out standing by the coop I heard a "clunk" and opened the nest box. There she was with a fresh, still wet, egg under her.
She is looking great, especially in the sunlight with the green sheen and all. I'll try to get some pics of her and the two boys when I let them out this afternoon.

I have one black pullet from that same hatch, Tom. She also started laying last week! Each egg has been huge. I have a black hen, over a year old, that still continues to lay Jumbo sized eggs.

Holy cow...what are you guys feeding those Jerseys of yours?

I've got a few pullets from a hatch of Bobbi Porto eggs, 33 or 34 weeks, and still haven't begun to lay. But, to be fair, NONE of my birds are laying now. I don't use lights on them, and I guess if I was a hen, I wouldn't want to be laying eggs in our COLD Michigan weather right now anyway! HA!

Kathy, good lookin' eggs!

yrhorses - glad SOMEONE is getting eggs!

I am getting 1-2 per day, and I wont' say how many hens I have...
