Nobody is getting many eggs apparently. My neighbor's HATCHERY Rir's ain't layin' big either. Was at his house yesterday. 1 dozen eggs for 60 hens. He cut some of his three dozen at a time customers back to 2 dozen. The days are getting longer, maybe soon... maybe soon....

I'm getting eggs. Three sppr today out if three hens. Two were big enough (grade a large size) to go in the bator. Another huge JG egg out of one jg girl, one silky egg, and one wheaten eraucana egg. One girl just started laying. So today, I'm 6 out of 9 hens today.

and my lav silky sea to be on an every other day schedule so I'll have one from her tomorrow.

For the past few weeks I`ve had a broody so I decided to see what would happen. I put an X on 3 eggs so I would not take the wrong ones. (after a while I just let her keep them all) Well today after shoveling a path to the coop. I looked inside and saw that my broody was off the nest so I went to take a look. In the corner was a baby chic DEAD. It was all chewed up. Also she is now in a new nest box and abandoned the other eggs.

Hi...I sent you a email since I'm not real sure how this forum works. I have owned chickens on and off for about 6 years but I am new to Blue jersey Giants. I'm getting my chicks in April or May from Sandhill Preservation...Iowa. I live in Michigan and I'm really looking forward to this breed. I'm hoping for a nice rooster....I've had bad luck with other breeds but supposedly....the jerseys are sweet.
love your pictures.....is the light one a "splash"????
