White Jersey Giants (from SOP)
COLOR:
COMB, FACE, WADDLES AND EAR LOBES: Bright red
BEAK: Yellow streaked with horn.
EYES: Brown to dark brown.
SHANKS AND TOES: Dark willow. Underpart of feet yellow.

They grow and start to lay just about the same time as most other breeds. It is just that when other breeds stop growing JG keep growing and growing and growing until they raise the roof.

To my Jersey Giant friends - thank you ALL so very much for the kind PMs and the concern you showed when I had trouble with my back - I am about 90% back to normal now, I'm happy to say! I am not good with taking meds, and probably waited too long. I was in pain for almost 3 full weeks, to the point it was waking me up at night, and I was getting mean/nasty with my hubby. Finally, I took a look at how I was treating him and other people I love in my life, and I realized it was time to get to the doctor.

Within 4 days of being on meds, I feel better than I did long before this last "attack" of pain!

I also need to apologize to any who are still waiting for Jersey Giant hatching eggs from me. Without going into too much detail, I've had a pretty major issue with some hens that I was really counting on this year. They are a different bloodline, and their type is just awesome...I was really excited to add them to my breeder flock this year, and I only kept a few hens, the very best of the hatch. However, they will turn 52 weeks this week, and none have begun to lay yet. So, there must be some problem (or must have been last year) with the breeder flock. I alerted the breeder a month ago, who told me they need higher protein...I increased protein, and still nothing. So - this is the reason for being so behind in my orders. I am down to two Jersey hens that are very good type and laying well...that is, until Saturday, when one went broody on me.

I can't seem to catch a break with these girls!

I do have some very young stock coming up from an extremely good flock - a different line, but one that I have much more faith in. The breeder is very invovled in the National club, and the stock I have is sired by the cock who won not only BV, but BB, and BEST AMERICAN at a very prestigeous show this past fall. I'm super, SUPER excited about these chicks, and I am hoping that they'll begin laying this fall. I'll post some pics of them in the next week or so!

That's good I'm glad more people see how great JG's are!
Wynette glad your up and running again.
I also think we all have been in those shoes at one time or another.
I have not forgotten the pictures. Just been crazy here I will try to get them tue as I have to clean Thier brooder so I will snap some picture too. (if the work with me)
