Hi Framac. After the show i thought maybe i had better check the thread.......i hvent been on in awhile. Nice pics from the show! i enjoyed meeting you and wish you well w your GIANTS

It was great meeting with you and thanks again for the birds. One, I think the Hen is already laying. I hope to chat with you more in the future, and may send you a message in the spring about some eggs if that is possible.

My Wife is away, and working/doing the farm chores, and looking after a very active 1 year old is about all I can do. Maybe on the weekend, or after she gets back and can get a few pictures.

Both of my black Jersey Giant hens have gone broody before... once.

(one is 5 and one is 2)

I recall Oldchick had quite an amount of her black JG's go broody this year. Busy hens!

3, I've had two Giant hens go broody, and come to mind, one was a splash and one a blue. So, perhaps that's true that the blacks aren't as broody?

Mine were 30-32 weeks when they began to lay, I believe. I certainly wouldn't look for eggs until probably February, though they sometimes will kick a few out intermittently before the days become longer.

This is the Champion Giant (A Cock) @ the national meet owned by another club member with awards in the background.The Sussex Co NJ poultry club gave out a nice plaque to go along w the club awards.

Jersey Giant roosters are so handsome. If I were a hen..I'd totally be into him!
