Jersey Giants thread for pictures and discussion

Hiya! I have 2 JG chicks and I live in Maryland.
Such cool little birds, very chill compared to my other chicks! I am so hoping that neither are roosters though, since I don't think its okay to keep them where we are!

I lost my JG roo yesterday. There was a trail of feathers for a hundred yards so it was a four legged predator. I've had so many predators that my flock is getting seriously depleted! I have chicks coming up from this rooster but I'll have to trade for another. Time to hit a chicken swap meet I guess!

Haven't had time to get good pics of my SandHill white jersey giants. They shipped twelve, four are not colored correct, they are white with yellow legs. Lost one white one and two of the correct colored ones within 24hrs. Six days old now and everyone that's left is doing great, very active. Here's a pic of one the day we got them. Down to six that look like this one

I'd much rather free range all the time but I don't unless I'm home, lost to many to predators, cost too much to feed trespassers. They have a covered run now.

I live in the desert, so free ranging is not an option. They are far more likely to find trouble than anything with any food value. With all the hawks, owls, buzzards, coyotes, and bobcats, you better believe my run is covered!
