I have splash hatching. 12 days to go. Purchased from a seller in Oregon?? Maybe 6/7 look fertile and developing. I'm in FL. Eggs traveled a long way for 5 days. Hope they make it.

I'd love to have some of your black chicks, but the budget's been slammed with unplanned stuff lately. (Husband had a heart attack, and, while he's OK now, and the VA paid for almost everything, there are still some bills out there... )
So, with luck, perhaps next year.

Me too! Oklahoma that is. I was able to hatch out 15 JG chicks so far this year. I have hens still sitting and a few eggs in the bator. I almost didn't have a roo after this last week! My two Red Bourbon gobblers had "Okie" Bigalow Chicken Gigalo cornered and it definitely wasn't his day. His comb is a little bloody but it just makes him look like the kind of rooster the hens always warned their pullets about.

Our Jersey roos tried bossing me a few times.  Now when I go in the pen they all quickly walk away and stay away.  Hubby and I are the top roos in there, no puffing up, strutting, nothing aggressive allowed.  They know that if they try it, we will chase them around in circles until they are exhausted.  We don't kick, hit, cuddle, or sweet talk the roos.  They need to know their place, and it is not at the top.  Try running him, keep him moving away at all times.

I do the same thing! I don't run them I just keep walking after them. It seems like they get confused because you aren't chasing them, but you're always there behind them! I had a roo that would always jump up and try to spur. I wouldn't back up but would move a bucket over his head and when he jumped he would hit head on the bucket. It didn't seem like he ever figured it out but after a while he would just look suspicious and move away.
