Jersey Giants thread for pictures and discussion

@beagleman77 Mean as in with you and humans or your other chickens? Some 'meanness' towards other chickens is just natural and usually passes as they get older, showing their dominance. If it towards you he's showing you dominance and you must put a end to it, don't allow it, show him your boss. Some people say cuddling works, I don't 'cuddle'. If it continues do not use him for breeding, it is a trait passed on. I suggested it was a learned trait and had many people more versed in chicken breeding tell me I was wrong, they insist it is genetic.

He is food aggresive I don't know why but I have bred him 2 times to get purebreds but I don't plan to breed him till I know he is not mean thanks for the help

Our Jersey roos tried bossing me a few times. Now when I go in the pen they all quickly walk away and stay away. Hubby and I are the top roos in there, no puffing up, strutting, nothing aggressive allowed. They know that if they try it, we will chase them around in circles until they are exhausted. We don't kick, hit, cuddle, or sweet talk the roos. They need to know their place, and it is not at the top. Try running him, keep him moving away at all times.
