Jersey Giants thread for pictures and discussion

My oh my.. I came here to look at jersey's .. but that little girl is precious..
I'm getting my JG in a few weeks... but I bet they dont come with a pretty little girl!.. like yours.!!!

looks like the'll be good friends... and well socialized.. birds.

Hello.. btw.. I'm Debra From Dodge City Ks..

I have 2 JG roo's One splash -- One black.. ( pet quality) and girls comming from McMurray's along with some BLRW and Salmon Fav's.. in 3 wks.. wish me luck..

The black one is just now crowing.. (his sex was in question until that.. ) black is taller than splash.
and the Splash is taking on a fuller body.. but i think he is older than Black. The splash has been crowing for more than a month.. I think splash hatched around Sept. is that a bout the right time to get the crow on??

I have already been Fermenting Feed for the boys.. they love it. -- and i just started a colony of meal worms for treats. I think it will take a while to have enough to feed however, I hope to raise friendly chickens.. for eggs and meat. and entertainment.
Just wanted to say hello..
Debra

Ok out here in the wild wild west.. there's " new sherrif's " in town.. on patrol.. for Hawks..
... i mean hand outs.. is more like it... ; )

How do you ferment the feed and why? Is it more nutritious? Where do you get meal worms.
I have 6 acres and my 14 chickens have all of it to roam. When I open up the pastures I'm sure they get all the worms and whatever. I only feed them a little bit of mash in the am to get them away from the house. I feel they get enough of what they need from the ground. Am I wrong?

Hi, Giant friends! Just wanted to drop a note that CSU (chicken state university) is going to be discussion the Jersey Giant breed soon. I've just posted a few (bad!) pics that I took yesterday, and we have a few judges who hopefully will be weighing in to discuss not only pics, but thebreed in general. Please read the opening post if you decide to participate - it's a pretty steadily "serious" thread for folks interested in breeding for exhibition:
