Jersey Giants thread for pictures and discussion

Big poops? LOL I can imagine bird poops the size of cow plops...IV heard of black ...white and blue Jersey giants ...what color is yours

Awesome...I was wondering if I'd have to get two or three...but one is perfect...IV just seen pictures but they are magnificent looking birds...would a hen calm my rirs? They are my mean girls...I'm gonna build another coop and run for my docile birds...my ees are the sweeties of my flock..but they get bullied A bit by my rirs

I haven't had enough hens to know about how a JG would fit into your pecking order.

My JG was one of my original four. Sadly, she's the last of that four. But she's accepted new hens into the flock pretty easily. And she's the one who breaks up any squabbles between the new hens. Today, I have a Buff Orpington and an Andalusian and she gets along with them just fine.

I will say that she is GORGEOUS!!! And she's a digger. I've watched her dig up a fully grown rose bush in about 20 minutes. That's probably my only draw back with her. But I mean what I say that she's wicked smart. She knows her name and comes when I call her. She love, love, loves banana and will jump up into your lap to eat yours if you are not sharing.

She also has the gift of gab and if I talk to her, she talks back. If I yell at her, she yells back. She's a hoot.

Here's Coco eating a banana:

And here she comes to me when I call her:

Think tennis ball sized. I'll say this, they are easy to scoop with a kitty litter scoop and toss into the compost bin. I'm BIG on composting.

Here's a better video of Coco coming when I call her. We just finished landscaping here and all the wire rings are trying to protect the plants from her digging them up before they get established.

BEAUTIFUL SMART GIRL..
WOW tennis ball size wads of birdy doo...I wonder how big a broody Poopie would be?

She is a lot bigger than your other girls...I really like the names they have...my twins named mine...silly names like...nurse...king...falcon goouche..but they are little kids...
Sweet ...now I definitely want one or two kg come spring ...I'll be fine with hatchery...I don't show birds...I'm a farm girl..LOL...
Thank you for the video looks..and all the information on them

If you want to display locally, then competition can be attributed to how your place is and how competitive you want to do.

You should to check out the Pictures and Stories forum on BYC. There's a lady there that goes by The Old Chick who has a whole flock of JG's. She had 17 originally including a rooster and her birds are BEAUTIFUL. She takes amazing photos of them.

She's lost a few over the years. And very sadly, she lost her roo to a predator so now she's got a different breed rooster.

I would just not recommend a JG for someone who has one of those little 3-4 hen coops from the feed store. They are just too small for a JG. But if you have a big coop and a little room for them to roam, they will bring you tons of laughter.
