Jersey Giants thread for pictures and discussion

I started off with hatchery so that I could get to know this breed without spending too much. I am now ready to transition to a more focused attention on breeding to standard. I truly am impressed with this breed and also want to presrve it's hetitage. I was able to buy a pair of truly magnificent JGs from a breeder. The difference between hatchery and focused breeder is truly significant. I want to expand the genetic diversity and also start a line of Blue JGs...I think I am hooked! LOL!!! Anybody know of a breeder of Blue JGs in Texas?

As has probably been said a few times, join the JG club. They will send you a list of all the members which makes it easier to connect with people in your area.

I am quiet happy. 28 eggs made lock down, and 21 chicks have hatched. A good first hatch considering that a lot of the days that I collected eggs, it was -15C, below 0 F outside.

Happy days are here again.

My first hatch is due this weekend. Got a very late start this year, unfortunately. I'm super excited about this year's birds...planning to put at least 100 chicks on the ground, will likely only keep the very best 5 or 6 for next year's breeding pen.

I'll probably be hatching through June this year - HATE hatching so late.

My Next hatch went into lock down last night. 60 of 72. I would love 40-50. If I can't sell them, then I will be done will be done with hatching for the year. (Or at least that Is what I am telling my wife!)

Your not far from me, about a half hour, I'm near Sidney. What color are your giants? Are they hatchery or breeder? How big are yours getting?

My Giants have all come from breeders. My roosters are a touch over 13, and the hens up to 10.5. I have a pen with a blue rooster, over 3 blue and one black hen. I have a black rooster over 5 black and one blue, and I have 2 black roosters over 5 black, 5 blue. The last hatch (51 total, 48 lived) I got 2 splash, 18 blue, and 28 black.

If you want more information on where I Got my birds, send me a PM. I am setting 60ish more tonight.
