Jersey Giants thread for pictures and discussion

Little Giant foam incubator I use in the basement. Temp swing due to sensor falling below eggs instead of sitting on top.

I think you have a sensor similar to mine, it is an LCD thermometer/hygrometer. I dangle the sensor pod thru a hole in the top of the bator, and tape it in place when the sensor pod is dangling near the top of the eggs.

Okay she is 10 weeks now and I am pretty sure she is a she. SO HAPPY! She is a beauty. Her name is Galinda (the good witch from Wicked) and if one of my OE is a girl she will be Elphaba (the green which). :)

He is my second heaviest. The heaviest has a white feather and is not nearly as pretty
Am i correct that ihis one is not bad? I am not in it to show, i am just looking for a good healthy bird to breed. I will upgrade eventually.

Jerseys are supposed to have 6 points on the comb. Hard to tell tail set from your pics, but that will probably change as he reaches maturity anyway. I don't see any show stoppers.

I was not expecting a show stopper, not yet. Just something to begin with.

I meant show stopper as a serious defect or fault.
He looks OK for his age. As he matures, he will develop sickle feathers in his tail. You want them to be up and carried proudly, but not leaning forward over his back, or to either side. (Squirrel tail or wry tail). A large and proud JG rooster is a beautiful thing, but you're going to be waiting a while yet to see it.

Oh, ok. I will keep an eye on his tail and see what it does. Most of his offspring will be eaten, but I would like a good bird to start with.
