Jersey Giants thread for pictures and discussion

Here is the result of my hatch this past weekend. I had 11 Jersey Giant eggs sent to me .... every single one was clear, EXCEPT ONE! So, I threw it into the hatcher with my 6 other eggs (Icelandics), and actually forgot about it. Low and behold, it hatched. The other eggs were hatched more than 24 hours before this, and I honestly forgot this egg was even in there. I thought I had unplugged the bator, but guess I forgot to. My plan was to leave the bator until the other bator hatched (24 -48 hours later), and then clean them both up, sanitzie them and pack them away (for awhile).

The humidity had to be next to nothing when this guy hatched, as I totally ignored the incubator. He hatched out clean as a whistle, and fluffed up quickly. This is about an hour after hatch ...

So THATS what was weird about it. . . I was looking at it, and thinking - Something's off about this chick. . . haha, interesting. Can you imagine if it was a girl?

Kathy, my first 3 JG's 3 years ago, well 1 developed wattles pretty quickly, and developed faster than the other two, and I really thought all along that the hatchery made a mistake. I could have sworn it was a roo up until she laid an egg, (I didn't really have anything to compare to). She's top dog, LOL.

My blue/splash JG's that all turned out black are really sweethearts. If I put my face down to where they're roosting, they all snuggle up to my face and sit, and nap. One roo has a real messed up eye (born that way), he's the sweetest and his name is Handsome!

Can't wait to have pics of the new ones when the time comes. I just love this breed.

I wouldn't call that real information, LOL. It'was only based on 3 pullets. I should be the one asking you for an opinion, which I will be doing alot in the future!

Anyone want a black roo from Marias Jersey Giants? He is four months old and is crowing up a storm in a neighborhood that doesn't allow roosters. I have to protect my girls... I don't want to lose any of them due to "being found out" about my chicken addiction.

I want to keep him but I can't risk it...

I hatched out FOUR ROOS and only ONE HEN... Sigh.

Anyone recommend where to get more fertile eggs? Not sure I want to pay Marias high prices again but I want a couple more hens and don't want hatchery stock.
