It would be wonderful to have a Jersey Giant club that was active! I wrote to them quite awhile back, and never tried a second time. I do hope they update the website and offer a little more guidance and information. I am especially interested in where other breeders are located.

Hello ALL!

My first trio of Giants are almost 7 months old. What is the average age that they start laying?

One of my hens started laying 2-3 weeks ago. She is doing some strange stuff that my other chicken friends have never seen or heard of. I think she is in love with me! She comes around me all day just a talking. One day I was petting her on her back and she hiked up her wings as if she were ready to be mounted. The next day the same thing happened, only this time I petted her down by her tail and all of a sudden her tail pops up! I'm not a pervert, I just wanted to see what she would do. Has anyone ever experienced this?

My cockeral hasn't figured out what to do yet and my other pullet isn't laying yet. So I put my loving hen in with my pure black Ameraucana cock to get her serviced so she would leave me alone. They ought to be some big, black and beautiful EEs! After a few days I put her back in with the other two JGs but every morning when I let her out...she wants some loving and I'm not really comfortable with getting an animal excited.

hunter if you have lavendar I would be interested as well. I have blue and splash JG's from Bobbi Porto. She is pretty well known on our coast and her birds are beautiful. I have won twice with my cockerel when he was only 8 months old and my hen pullet as well they took best of breed and best variety I am just getting ready to sell the eggs I have been hatching them for myself to increase my flock and check fertility. My birds are just turning a year old. some will be a year in july. I am hoping more people will start showing giants as there are not many in the shows. I have tried getting in touch with the giant club as well but no response. Maybe it isnt to late to get it off the ground again. Micki

edit to ad: Just looked at Bobbis website she purchased her birds from Maria Hall in 2002

Or just try to get more people to show their birds. Seminole are yuo going to show yours this year in Florida. In the fall
