OH NO!!! I feel for you - I lost a favorite banty roo last year when I didn't lock up the coop early enough one night, and I cam in to see a raccoon going at him. I know how you feel -it just hurts!
I know!!!
Now I will have to find another roo for my 3 JG pullets ..
It's too bad you're not closer, I have 4 beauties right now, and would gladly give you one!

That would be soooo awesomly sweet of you!
What colors do you have? IF I did and "could" get another JG roo without my mom killing me, what color would you suggest? I think I could get Black, Blue, and Splash from the breeder.
I have a really ignorant and probably dumb question. With JGs being so large, do they tend to ward off hawks? I realize they are still very much fair game to most predators, but was wondering with their size if they gave hawks pause for thought.
I'm enjoying everyones pictures. The birds are beautiful.
One of the main reasons i got black JG is they look like crows when they are young. Hawks hate crows. All summer I have not seen one hawk. Now that the acorns are falling off the tree I have alot of squirrel and chipmonk so know the hawks are showing up. I seen a few Red tail hawks but none have bothered my girls. I did have a Coopers hawk fly into my run and could not fiquire out how to fly out. He needed to fly east but he kept trying to fly west. He would make it over the chicken wire but would hit the bird netting and get knocked back into the pen.
Thanks, Tinman. We have a lot of hawks in WV. It doesn't take them long to spot a chicken and it would be really wonderful if, in this case, size mattered. Hawks probably could maime a JG. But hawks aren't stupid and they would know from looking at the size it would be more than they could easily deal with. It could convince them to look for easier prey. I was hoping some of you had experience with this. It could be a deciding factor for me.
Hi! I am in love with these beautiful birds!!! I have to have some!! Anyone have any in CNY??? Why are they not more popular!!!! Just saw two hens and a rooster at our local zoo and fell in love!!!!
