Jersey Giants thread for pictures and discussion

Wynette I got the eggs Sat. Very nice they went in on the 10th. So the count down has started.
The extras are very pretty and larger then I thought they would be.
Very nice packing job. Hubby wants me to ask where you got the bubble wrap the eggs were in.
After a weekend of looking over every chick on the place as to what will got to the swap and what will be breeders.
I have made my mind up that the smaller jg chicks from joy will be sold and I will keep the 3 or 4 largest ones.
As with yours and Bobbi's they will have to be big to hold there own.
The jg's are here to stay!

I have wanted some from the first then we got "one" we thought we would try and she was not jg or mixed was smaller then the orp we had. After that we (I)
Had a hard time finding any till this year.
I just wanted to say thanks to everyone on the thread for all the help and info. To give me the push and try the real deal.

Ted, that's a beautiful picture - what a pretty smile you have! Nice boy!

Soaring, I get those bubble wrap pockets on eBay. They come in several sizes, but that size works great for me. I love bubble wrapping eggs, but like to use brand new for what touches the eggs themselves, and those little pouches are awesome - it has cut down my packaging time to half of what it was. Also, if one "should" get damaged in transit, those pouches will contain the spillage so as not to contaminate the others.

BEST of luck with your hatch!

Hi Wynette
How's the girls doing?? Opa posted that after a 5 day absence of eggs he got one yesterday. He has no idea of the cause. If you don't have 24 for me the first week of May I'll just take what you got ....I can't go past that first week because I have such busy summers here and some short trips planned too.
I have my 24 Orpington eggs in the bator now...day 4....I didn't check them for cracks like I should have...I wanted to put them in on the 7th and we were going to be out until late so just put them in and hoped for the best. I will probably candle at day 7 or 10. We are supposed to pick up two new coops later this week and I finally got my old coop cleaned out and sprayed with bleach and pyrethium.
I love reading about everyones jerseys. Sounds like Soaring has got a good selection for his Jerseys'.

I have 3 JG hens ( 2 Black 1 Splash ). My only JG rooster is Splash, but he is only around 6-7 months old...he hasn't crowed yet or anything..how long until he does his "thing"? I want to get some more JG so badly!! I just love mine!

Mrs. Fluffy - my Jersey boys are usually "attempting" to mount at around 14-16 weeks.

I am so happy that there are peeps out there really wanting this breed - Jerseys ROCK!

I bought my boy when he was 5 m/o...that was a few months ago. He sure is taking awhile to fill out!

It takes a full 2 years for Jersey Giants to reach full growth.

My JG rooster had no interest in mounting females until he was well over 6 months old.
