Today is hatch day for me, and I have two out and at least one pip. How are yours coming along, fifelake?

I have 3 out now and two that have pipped! It seems to be going slower than normal and I have a divider set up in the middle to keep apart Maria Hall's from Wynette's. Those that hatched are really crowded and are on top of the ones that haven't hatched. (I have a Brinsea which only holds 24 eggs ). I have decided to vaccinate these chicks and was told to let them ALL hatch before opening the incubator and I've never done that before. I have to keep telling myself they will be fine...crowded or not. The first to hatch was this morning. I forgot how many you have in the incubator. I have 21.

I had bantams in the same incubator as you, and it started getting crowded in there, so I pulled them out once they were dry and fluffy. I can't imagine how crowded it must be with giants. I would think you could take out the dry ones to put in the brooder. While the peeping of the ones already hatched kinda encourages the new ones, I can't imagine it's good for them to keep getting knocked around by the babies already hatched.

Well...I couldn't stand it any longer...I took out 4 and some egg shells. They are beautiful chicks. It was hard putting on those ankle bands...I think the zip ties are easier. I have 4 more from Wynette still dry and fluffy but I just got through opening it to take out the other breeders so will wait to see if I can find a time with none pipping or zipping.

Hey Everyone!! So I hatched a bunch of chickens this summer, and in my batches, I had 3 Jersey Giant eggs, and thankfully they all hatched!

I have 7 of Wynette's Jerseys hatched as of now...they are so beautiful...mostly blues. I have 5 of Maria's hatched so far...mostly blacks. I am just thrilled with the size of these chicks!

Congrats on your hatches Chicks in the sun.....sounds like yours are hatching good also! I plan on taking pictures tomorrow when the hatch is done (I hope). I've never had a developed egg that looked good on day 18 not hatch...but this may happen this hatch. Due date was the 26th and these are hatching late for some reason. Post some pics Chick!

Ragazzabella...when they have a black/dark blue body and white splashes on face is that considered a black or a splash?? I have some baby Orpingtons with the same coloring.

Well, after much nailbiting and soul searching I am going to have to cut down to one large fowl breed. I live in a subdivision and my black and beautiful shiny 'Big Boy' has got a massive crow. So I have posted my quad of Jersey's for sale if anyone in Missouri is interested from my last fall Bobbi Porto hatch. PM me for details or check the 'for sale' section.

Someone from my Craigslist ad is coming to view them tomorrow, so we'll see what happens. I have to work in the morning, so it will be in the afternoon. I just can't keep up with all these separate coops & runs & feeders & waterers and work full time & be mom & wife.

I don't believe that these sold so fast! Kathy I look forward to meeting you, you are very determined!
