Good morning, Jersey Giant friends! The thread has been pretty quiet lately...everyone taking stock of what they have and making cull decisions?

My juveniles are turning out to every bit as good - and better - than I had hoped they would! Took a load of pics & tagged them all up a couple of weeks ago, and haven't made final decisions as they are only now a bit over 19 weeks (18 weeks in the pics), but for sure I'm keeping this gorgeous blue boy:

I wish he'd been standing up nice & tall....but man, he's just gorgeous and VERY VERY correct. He's 8# and not even 5 months old yet! Woot!

Here's another pic:

This is the one that I'd posted pics of back when they were about 12 weeks, and I said this guy just really stood out to me. They are ALL very, very nice, but from the beginning, this guy just seemed like he had a bit of something "extra."

Here's one of the pullets from the hatch:

Pretty gal!!

tamsunbelt - lovely gal you have there!

tee-hee! I'm glad you like them...they truly are lovely specimens - I feel fortunate to have them! No one is turning red in the face yet...I'd love for them to wait until at least 24 weeks to lay, as I think they slow down in growth when they begin to lay, and I LOVE LOVE LOVE a huge bird!

Man and I thought I would be the only one to ever use that name. My black jersey giant roo is named andre as well he is a year old and loves my easter eggers. Its funny because if I were to go outside and take a picture a week ago before I locked up my blue wheaten easter eggers I could have taken an almost identical picture. He is a bit upset right now because I took away his buddies but I am trying to get him accustomed to running with my half grown giants since I plan on locking him up when they are old enough to lay.

LOL It seemed only fitting to name him Andre!

He LOVES my EE's over anyone else in the pen! Weird! Poor girls singles them out! Maybe because he was raised with them. Used to be he hung with Annie, his sis, but he kinda ignores her now. Figures. I plan on getting some more in the late spring/ or early summer, but waiting until then. He is a sweet guy, I've heard they are. Seems confused if I do anything more dominate than him. LOL He is becoming a great roo so far! Very impressed with his warnings when something flys over head , or someone pulls in the drive. HOWEVER, throw a treat down, a bug hops in view - hes not about to call the girls over yet! Its all about him then! LOL Still young and learning! He does shoo them away from things and call him over to him when he feels there is a threat, and they listen to him. They have never listened to any other rooster I've had!!! They like him even though he wants to "date" all the time since he discovered it a couple weeks ago. He is feeling quite Randy at the moment!
