also it is illegal to ship eggs over the border, can you imagine?

such a drag, specially for us canucks up here who have limited stock to choose from

I feel very lucky then to have my Chantecler's, a Canadian developed breed that was thot once to have gone extinct.
My buffs aren't on the APA list yet, but someday they might be.
I have one rooster and one hen who both have very crooked toes tho so they wouldn't be good for breeders. wouldn't wanna pass that on. don't know if it's genetic or something that just happens in the egg as one grows.

I got 30 JG eggs Thursday from Bobbi Pronto. I got some from her Blacks and others from her BBS. Here's to having a great hatch in about 3 weeks. I have the 2 I posted pics of a few pages back. I bought them from somebody local that got eggs from ebay. They were supposed to be a pair but when Bobbi saw the pics she said "you have a pair, a pair of boys. Lol". Neither has yet to crow. They were hatched between April 1 and May 1. I guess I'll just have to wait.

Best of luck for your hatch!

Thank you. Now that I found eggs from SQ jersey Giants, I need to be on the look out for SQ Black, White, and BBS LF Langshans as well as SQ Speckled Sussex. I am on a list for SQ Black Langshans as well as Blue. No such luck on Speckled Sussex.

Congrats on the eggs. Hope you have a good hatch.

I put a dozen in the bator on the first. I already have 10 nice youngsters (all blacks). It is a bit early to tell yet how they will fill out, but they seem to have good color and personality traits. I got lucky and ended up with 2 roosters and 8 hens. One of the roos is lagging in his development, so I am not sure how nice he will be by the time he matures. The other is showing promise and the hens are all looking great. I didn't want to concentrate on only one blood line though, in case I need to work improvements into the breeding pen. The pictures I saw of the birds where I purchased my eggs look really good, so I hope to have a good selection to choose from to start some breed pens next Fall.

I'm usually the one to let my three hens (including my Jersey Giant) out of their run into the big garden when I get home from work. But I had an appointment tonight so I asked my husband to let the girls out. Which he did. But he forgot how much my Jersey Girl LOVES banana.

So he's sitting in a chair on the patio and proceeds to open a banana. Coco comes running over and is standing on his feet begging and trying to get to the banana. But he wanted to eat most of it first before he gave her some. Well, she has no patients what so ever and isn't about to wait. So she walks around to the side and jumps up onto the arm of his chair and leans in and just helps herself.

And I don't need to tell this group that she's got a BIG BEAK on her and pretty much chocked down the rest of the banana all by herself.

Oh, what I would give for a video of this episode.
