Jersey Giants thread for pictures and discussion

Hi people I am looking to purchase a dozen or more Black or BBS Jersey giant eggs. I am not real picky as u will not see me at the shows with them. I just want them as pets. I used to have them when I was a kid. I want big chickens (true giants) as pets and for eggs since I am not interested in eating the birds. I do not care if they dont lay well as I dont eat eggs everyday anyways. The ones I had as a kid were Golda Miller line. I DO NOT WANT hatchery stock as I can avoid the risk of hatching eggs and just order chicks myself if thats what I wanted. If anyone has eggs for sell from true giants please PM me I can Paypal and have room in my bator now. Thanks everyone

I have Golda's but they are white.

Seems there are several folks on here that have pretty good blacks, blues...etc.

Im pretty much between Omaha and Des Moines, an hour either way just off I-80

been working on my brooder out in the garage and it's COLD today.
gotta get more plywood, but its coming along.

Here is where Ive crammed it into the corner of the garage till I get more supplies, and bottom photo shows that it's in a 2 car garage in the NW corner.
Will they be okay being raised in a garage in Michigan? There is also car exhaust to figger in. This door opens and closes alot.
Each section WILL have a 250W red brooder lamp in it. And temps in Mich get pretty cold in Feb and March, especially up here near Saginaw Bay. Should I consider moving it into a small greenhouse (8x8) on the south side of the house, it would be out of the bitter winds and have all those windows letting in sun on nicer days? Im just really worried I should be doing this in Michigan at this time of year.

They should be fine there, as long as the door isnt open for too long, or you let your car run, even with door open that exhaust tends to hang.

I have a 3rd brooder, it's one of those small ones with wire floor and walls you can find in any pet store.

Please help. Are these all roosters???? They are 7-8 months old. I know what the black one is, he is crowing, but what about the splash and blue one. Any guesses?????
