Jersey Giants thread for pictures and discussion

Well, I experimented breeding my JG's, turns out, you need to be careful with side sprigs with their Brahma genes in them, also the visible yellow feet, and the good personality..

I'd definitely be interested as we have all seen my photos of my Jersey Giants who are not breeding quality, and I'd like to know what to breed for.

Hi, anyone know of a show quality Jersey G breeder in Oregon? I have a cousin there looking to acquire some. She and her daughter had show dogs for some time, and now since they have moved to a rural area are interested in raising/showing the giants.
Thanks

I'll send you a pm with some info on what's available in our area.

Side sprigs are exactly what they sound like - little sprigs, or "extra points" on the comb - usually they occur toward the back part of the comb, and usually they grow straight out to the side. Sometimes they are nothing more than a bump, sometimes, they can literally be 1/2" long and stick straight out.

Okay, guys - for those interested in examining a few pictures closely, send your pics to moderator Happy Chooks. This way, we can all participate and NO ONE knows whose pictures belong to whom! Send pics to her, and she'll collect them for awhile & let us know when she has enough to post a few.

Make sure, when you send them, to include gender - pullet (less than 12 months), hen (over 12 months), cockerel (less than 12 months), cock (more than 12 months).

This is going to be fantastic! I can't wait!

Wait what's happening? I wasn't observing so closely

Okay, here's a pic of an extreme side sprig - this was posted elsewhere on BYC. They are not typically this easy to spot, but this gives you an idea of what/where to look for it:
