Chapter 27

2 months later

"Mom, my stomach hurts," Gabby whined.
"Haha! Her first egg!" Fenix rejoyced.
Suddenly, the white sphere popped out behind Gabby.
"Gabby! You had your first egg!" Gingernut exclaimed.
"What's so great about it, mom," Gabby asked.
"You can have chicks if you want," Jazzy explained.
"But am I going to have to go through this everyday," she bickered.
"Sadly, yes," Fenix said honestly. "Get used to it, it's going to be an everyday thing."
Fenix Jr., Fenix, Felix, and Sonny crowed happily in celebration. The other cockerels weren't going to be the leaders when they grew up, so they weren't supposed to crow. Bella also began having the same stomach pain a few hours later, and laid her first egg.

"Hey mom," Bella asked Sunny.
"Yes," she replied.
"Can I have some chicks of my own," Bella asked.

Chapter 28

Sunny was just about to say yes and get hyperactive when she remembered the conflict she had with Gingernut and Fenix. How they were seperated for almost a year over eggs. She did not want that to happen again with her or her chicks.
"No," Sunny declared.
"Whyyyyyy," Bella whined.
"Because, you're too young to be having chicks, you just had your first egg, and a few other reasons I'm not going to tell you."
"What are those reasons?"
"None of your business."
"It is my business!"
"No its not!" Sunny shouted. Then, she looked stunned, then sad, and slinked off to the back of the cave, while all of the residents just stared.

1 week later
"Mom," Bella asked, "why did you look so sad last week when I asked you about having chicks?"
"Because," she explained, "when I had you, actually before I had you, me, Jazzy, and Gingernut all wanted our own chicks. One of our friends, Sandy sparked an argument between us in an accident and we became very angry, almost hostile, to each other. Remember the time when everyone hopped on my wing and we left daddy and Ginger?"
"Yeah," she replied. "Who was Sandy?"
"Sandy was a dog. Most dogs try to hurt chickens, but we helped her and she helped us in return," Sunny explained.
"What happened to Sandy," Bella asked.
"She went outside and took a nap under that mountain of dirt outside our cave," Sunny explained. Sure, it wasn't the hard truth, but why was she going to say something as terrible as Sandy dying from hypothermia when they were already having a conversation like this?
"She must not know it's spring," Bella commented.
"Yeah, sort of like that," Sunny replied.
"But can I pleeeeeeease have some chicks," Bella whined. "Fenix Jr. will be my mate!"
"No, Bella," Sunny concluded.

Fenix crowed loudly to announce the start of a new day, with Fenix Jr. crowing after him, then Felix, then Sonny.
They ran out into the grassy bliss for another day outdoors with Nikki guarding them all. Suddenly, Bella screamed loudly.
