a brief background, a couple weeks ago, i had a couple chickens get sick (pamperedpullet suggest it was coryza) so I did the quarantine, and tylan 50 injections on them. when they showed no more symptoms, i out them back ouside. they are all fine now. no runny noses, no stink. every day i obsessively go out and check noses and observe my flock. today i noticed my JG roo looked like he had gunk dried on his beak, so i caught him, and only one nostril is showing a little runny stuff. the other is fine. his eyes are clear and his head is not swollen, nor does he feel hot to the touch. however, his ears were crusted over, so i picked them clean and got the yellow pus out also, but if you squeeze them, they still look runny. his head doesn't smell, but his ears do.

should i give him a tylan shot to treat the ear infection? if so, do you give him the same amount i gave a smaller hen or does he get more since he's about 10 pounds?

i can't afford corrid to do the flock, or oxine to spray everything down until next week.

Sounds painful for him. I do not know the dosage or treatment, but hope someone will see this and be able to answer your questions.

Hope he recovers quickly.

Are you sure it was Coryza? Coryza has a very distinctive smell. If so you should read up quite a bit on it, as it can be brutal for your flock. I would keep any bird that has, or has had, symptoms, separate until you know for sure what is going on. If it is Coryza, your rooster is a carrier, and he could very well pass it on to the rest of the flock. Some people here with a Coryza infestation have ellected to cull their entire flock.

Here is some info from another BYCer (ooops forgot her name):

Coryza - swollen sinsus, swelling affecting normally one eye, cheese infection in that eye, thick yellow discharge from nares, wheezing and open moth breathing, very bad smell from the infection.
Treat with Tylan or gallimycian until all symptoms have cleared. Vaccinate all birds on property with vaccine. Medicate all birds for another week, then revaccinate in2- 3 weeks. Any bird left showing symptoms would be a carrier and would need to be delt with. Continue vaccinating your birds every year.

MG is bubbly watery eyes, open mouth breathing, wheezing, clear water discharge. cause by a one celled organism that latches itself to the tissue wall in the throat and lung tissue. Spreads but can becontroled with cleaning chemicals like bleach. Carrier state also, although new research has shown great improvement with certain meds. like Tylan and La200 that are geared only for swine and cattle in this state there are other meds used here on swine that does wonders for MG affected that are used in poultry in other countries. Do some research.....
