Hello from the great Metropolis of Franklin, GA in Heard County GA. One traffic light, one car parts store, and the best bbq shack in the South.
My family just got owned by 14 RIR 8 week old pullets, two grown laying RIR hens, in addition to the two 7 week old Dominiques (one pullet, one Cockeral, at least we think so the way he acts and his size compared to his sibling), and one white hen we found in the middle of the road. We were headin' down the highway a couple months back and started passing lots of chickens in various array's of having been roadkilled, poor things, when we passed one that was sittin' on her belly with her head up and looking around. We stopped at picked her up, she was a mess, some blood on her wings and butt, but not to much. Took her home cleaned her up and she's been happy and healthy ever since. Named her "Roadie" heh heh. We have temporary safe shelter for them, lots of food and attention, and in the process of converting a shed to a coop with a huge run behind it.
This is a great site, so much info. My wife will probably join.
