Joined to find advice/tips on getting a necklace out of my chickens insides :(

They offered surgery for us but it’s 100% risky and she wouldn’t make it. For us it was $600 with the X-ray and medicine and draining. My mom got a laxative for the chicken I’ll see it it works but she ate a necklace that’s the thing. What did your cat eat again?
It was a thick cord out of my curtains. Not just a string. The size of a drawstring for pants or a winter coat and quite a bit of it. I was fortunate that it was not metal. It took the full 48 hours of every two hours administering it for it to finally pass. Good Luck with your Chicken. I do know how you feel as my Ducks are like family to me also.

I wouldn't pull it out unless it's already coming out on its own. Even then, I'd let her do as much as she can first. Chicken intestines are all tangled up inside, and have deadends and stuff. There's yards of intestine that necklace will have to make it through. I'd get educated on chicken internal organs if you're even considering it.

The Meat Bird Forum might be a good place to look if you don't mind graphic pictures of the insides of chickens. It's quite educational to see what the insides actually look like and where everything is, but might be traumatic if you see chickens firmly as pets and don't like to think about eating them.
I totally agree with FunClucks. If you pull on it you could possibly pull her intestines out with it since it has all of those deadends and twists and turns. That could be fatal in itself.

They gave us a pill a very tiny pill in half we have to cut and some pink medicine I could give you both of the names for them. She said it helps with pooping and bringing down her fluid they had to drain yesterday
Pink and tiny doesn't help know what it is. Sounds like a laxative and a diuretic from what you are saying.
Is the fluid in her abdomen something that was an issue before the necklace?

Chickens intestines are pretty long and unless its starting to come out, you won't be able to get at it. However, a chickens intestines are several feet long. If you do start to see it coming out, you might cut off the pieces as they show so others don't bother her. I don't recommend pulling on it as it could tear part of her tract if it gets caught on something internally. If this is a necklace you don't want to cut, cage her until it comes out. Hopefully it does.
She is the only chicken we have and she lives inside with us and we take her outside in our patio or on walks and bike runs. If I start to see the chain in her butt do I not cut it because it’s a necklace (bc I don’t rly care about the necklace) or do I not cut it because it could get lost again or damaged?

Since she is an only bird, just let her poop it out naturally. How long is the necklace? If all but 2 inches is out, at that point you could probably safely pull it out.

Yeah this is our only chicken and is a pet to us. She listens and even runs to us. We’ve bonded a lot with her and I can’t imagine killing her. We already lost her sister a year or two ago. They were still little too. It affected me a lot, can’t imagine how bad this one will hurt.

To be honest the necklace looked very long, from what I remember from the x ray pictures it had like a charm of an O and another small one and the chain was pretty long and it was kinda wrapped already not like lose in a straight line.

Thing is, it’s near her intestine or I think inside it. I’m hoping it still comes out

She isn’t eating as much as before I’m trying to find out what could we give her to help bring out the necklace or at least digest and break it down to poop it out. I’m curious if we could put our hands in her butt to pull it out but I’m not sure
She has to have something to eat to push on the necklace.. I would think something with fiber?
