Hi New to chicken in keeping my babies are 10 months old small flock of four .my head hen Has all the sudden stopped laying for about a week she looks great still eating not sure if it could be the thunderstorms were getting here in South Florida she doesn’t seem to be overheating in the shade but it has been hot any suggestions? Thought it was interesting that the last egg she had was in the run where she’s normally very private in the box

That's good to know some of yours do slow down at this time of the year shes my only orpington other 3 are laying good... no signs of molting she's super fluffy and not really going into the boxes, just thought maybe weather such as heat or these wicked thunder storms

Good morning, welcome to BYC. You say that she is "super fluffy" and not laying, is she walking funny? Lethargic?
I would make a post in the emergency section. She may be egg bound.

Thank you! were is that section located ? Since the post she layed one egg but again that was 10 days ago & no she still is playing eating drinking .. I am starting to notice her feathers lying around and more than normal but no patches on her Is she old enough for her 1st molt or even a light molt heard it was 18 months she is about 11 months ?
