July 13, 2011 Hatch Day! STARTED!!!!

That's awesome LoveMyChicklets! Let's see some pics. Exciting, I can't wait for mine to start, just organizing lockdown now!

Had to pitch one more egg last night that had nothing going on and I'm not really sure how I missed that before, but everybody else has some activity so a total of 10 chickens have been culled through out this process.

30 EGGS LEFT & THIS IS WHAT WE HAVE:
-3 Bourbon Red Turkeys
-6 Welsh Ducks
-1 Buff Duck
-7 Red Sussex X
-6 Ameraucana (4 could be X's with the Red Sussex Roo so we'll see...)
-3 Faverolle
-3 Buff Orpington
-1 Leghorn X (The busiest one in there, always see that little guy kicking & flailing around in there.)

I'm like a kid at Christmas I'm SO excited...please don't screw this up, please don't screw this up...

K, everyone is OFF the turner, eggs have been laid out, water trays filled, plus a sponge that I can add too and the plug has been pulled!

Am I forgetting anything?

I am being such a spaz!

I'm not sure what you mean by plug???

I have 9 that have hatched so far. Seven NNs and 2 Blue Wheaton Ameracauna/EE mix chicks. Still have 6 in the bator and am trying to decide if I should take a look at those/candle??? Yikes! If I do nothing I will just leave them in the bator for 2 more days - barring no stinkies - to see if anything hatches. No pips and no chirps on these last 6 though

The plug at the top for the air hole? It's a Hova-Bator 1583 and it has a red plug at the top but not sure if I am supposed to pull it now (at lockdown) to give it more oxygen in there or not until everyone starts doing their thing...

I'm totally densing out, and don't want to screw this up!

My bator is a Brinsea and it doesn't have a plug but has a vent. I shut the vent on mine so that it was only open 1/3 in order to keep humidity in. Lord knows if that's right or not since I'm a newbie but I read the directions... Who knows! I'm sorry I'm no more help

I'm praying you have a good hatch yourself! I still haven't given up on my other six yet though

I have the 1558, and I keep the plug in until I see a pip. Then I take it out. I have pretty good hatches..not bragging, but I've hatched a few chicks in these bators. Love the 1588...air..

AWESOME! Thank you. So plug was put BACK in and we're steady at a 99.5 and 75%.

I perhaps may be imaging this but I am sure I saw a turkey egg moving a bit and then one of the duck eggs rolled up against the side so not sure if it just needed a roll or had a little encouragement from inside! Could that be happening with 3 days left to go?

Mine just went into lockdown at 6:00 PM. I've got Cochin eggs from North Carolina & Polish eggs from Pennsylvania.
I got my eggs off Ebay and this is my very 1st incubation attempt.
So I'm real nervous.
