July 13, 2011 Hatch Day! STARTED!!!!

There's 14 Cochin eggs and 10 Polish in there. I'm so scared to get my hopes up!
But it helps to know everyone else is going through it, too.

You have duck eggs and chicken eggs in together? Interesting. I think 75% humidity is a good in between humidity setting then.
Were the duck eggs set earlier than the chick eggs? They take 28 days to hatch...just hopped into this thread yesterday..so me?? Not sure what I'm looking at here.

Ok, went back to page one, saw your post..the duck eggs were in sooner...yaay,, this should be fun!

You bet, turkeys and ducks went in one week earlier almost to the hour, so I am excited to see what I have in store. Perhaps bit off more than I can chew by doing a combined hatch the first time 'round...but can't go back now, haha!

my problem is, we dont have air conditioning in our house, so we have them in the basement to keep the temp. stable (which works really well for temp) but the humidity is 60% even with the dehumidifier running 24/7 (the water runs through a hose to a sink) whichis 10 ft away from the bators. would it be better to sacrifice the temp changes for a good humidity or is it better to have a stable temp. and yes my other 6 are growing up way too fast

We're due on the 14th - went to lockdown last night b/c this a.m. too much going on - so hopefully that didn't cause problems. I candled last night and saw movement on the remaining 11. We started with 13 white leghorns, 1 did not develop and 1 was a stinker on Day 17 (looked like a Day 9 quitter when I opened it outside). So now it's just waiting time... not something I do well LOL!

Anybody have any action yet?

I know there is still two days to go but my morning surprise was that my leghorn X has pipped and 3 of the duck eggs have a little somebody hammering away on the inside cause the shells have started a little hole, plus lots of wiggling and moving around eggs - PLUS there is chirping! All kinds of singing going on, my husband is teasing me that he's worried he's gonna come in and find me clucking at the incubator.
