July 2015 Hatch A Long HAL

Waiting is always so hard. But you will have cute fuzzy silkies in just a few days!

Thanks... I only get this silly now about certain eggs. I remember back when every hatch had me this nervous and excited! I just look at Silkies online while I wait and hope ; )

Hello
smile.png
mind if I join you? I built a still air incubator.. & received my hatching eggs today. I'm not expecting a huge success rate, my very first time incubating with equipment I built haha the odds may not be in my favor.

One of the eggs had a detached air cell, so I am letting them rest overnight in the carton & I will set them in the A.M. if it is attached again by then.
I could only mark two or three air cells out of 16 eggs, so.. I will comb through "Hatching 101" & make some decisions tonight I guess about the ones I am not sure about..
I may have WAY too many questions. I'm sorry in advance lol

If air cells are detached, you can still incubate them, just put them upright in a carton and start tilting them, instead of turning, after several days.

Wow! That's quite the operation! How many chickens do you have on your farm? And what sorts of things do you raise/sell/harvest? @cmfarm

Just put 8 d'uccle hatching eggs in incubator hope they hatch due July 26 &27

For the last couple of days my Red Sex link hen is acting broody so finally today I marked 4 eggs and let it sit, I will see how it does since its the first time.

My silver laced Wyandotte has never gone broody. She is almost 2. Is that normal?

Well, I went & got some more eggs to set so now I have quite a few. Are cartons necessary? (Except for the one with the detached air cell, I plan on following that advice)
