July 2021 Hatch-A-Long

I have some shipped eggs due to hatch on the first. Its been a disappointing journey so far

Sometimes the eggs look fine, but the genome has been damaged by shipping, hence so many blood rings.

I put 20 eggs in the incubator on Saturday. 6 CL mix and 14 straight CL.

If everything goes well, I have chicks due on the 20th

Mixed bantam eggs...

Just put 10 eggs in the incubator. Due on the 21st. Had to scrape some together, because of all the eggs the 2 unreliable broodies wasted.

I candled the 20 eggs this morning. 18 look good, 2 are iffy

I think it hatched yesterday, but only heard it today. It’s a Silver Pencil Rock/Welsummer. I’m really hoping the rest of the eggs, pure Rock, hatch. I’ve had poor fertility.

I have been waiting for my tried-and-tested best broody to go for over a month! But I finally set 4 white peafowl eggs under her yesterday. She's always a day or 2 early so I'm expecting chicks by the 27th
So far she's done a peafowl hatch 4 years in a row, and hatched every egg we've put under her! This and last years were shipped eggs.

I had set 10 Swedish Flower eggs from my favorite hen on June 11th.

During the first week, found out 2 were infertile so down to 8.

So last night 6 had pipped and there out this morning.

I'm hoping the 2 eggs left hurry up and hatch. I need to disinfect the incubator and start on my deathlayer eggs I got from Gff. They been resting in my closet for almost 2 weeks.

I'm fixin to put 13 shipped White Leghorn eggs under a broody Barred Rock named Tarasita this evening. This is my first attempt at hatching ..... Well Tarasitas first attempt !

I guess I'll be candling in a few days ..... Fingers crossed !
