I'm fixin to put 13 shipped White Leghorn eggs under a broody Barred Rock named Tarasita this evening. This is my first attempt at hatching ..... Well Tarasitas first attempt !

I guess I'll be candling in a few days ..... Fingers crossed !

When you place eggs tonight, note the time when you do it so you can track actual days.

Example:
So when hen gets eggs at 6pm the next day at 6pm is the start of day 1.

Today all but 1 egg hatched, 7/8. I candled the last egg, it didn't fully form into a chick.

So I disinfected the incubator and now started the Deathlayer eggs. I have 12 to start and these are shipped eggs from Gff. I'll update here on the condition of the eggs on day 5.

I'm hoping the 2 eggs left hurry up and hatch. I need to disinfect the incubator and start on my deathlayer eggs I got from Gff. They been resting in my closet for almost 2 weeks.

Are you saying you have had shipped eggs sitting around for 2 weeks before putting them in an incubator? If so I am not sure any of them are alive at this point so don't get your hopes up to have development.

That did cross my mind, but I'm OK either way.

The SFH eggs that hatched, 4 of the eggs had been refrigerated for a month or so, the other 4 was from the egg carton sitting on the kitchen counter for 2 months.

Hi! Im not hatching at the moment but will follow along. I have 1 week old chicks at the moment.

So I am collecting more eggs now and getting my second incubator out of storage. I want the eggs to have the ideal weight so give or take 55g , with a lot of pullets this year it's a lot of weighing. I have three hens that should make the weight though. I am also making a new brooder.
