Let them rest a bit. You most likely will have to give them a wash cloth bath as shrink wrapped chicks don't fluff up correctly without one. Also watch for leg issues. The act of pushing themselves out of the leg usually locks the tendons and joints into place so you might have to treat for splay leg for a few hours.Anyone around? I dozed off, woke w/a weird feeling, could hear them but no progress from this a.m. I had given them safety holes around 11 after reading and rereading how to assist. So tonight, weird feeling, could hear all 4 of them, figured 5th was dead this a.m. - started assisting.all were shrink-wrapped. Once I got them started they all plopped themselves in my hand, yolks are totally consumed, but it's a little bloody there. What do I do? View attachment 2752421View attachment 2752428

That was my last hatch. I spent all night reading articles to be prepared for whatever this group surprised me with.1 lone chick hatched. It has been more than a year since that happened. I blame the post office, my local one, for the last minute damage they did to the box. So in the morning I will go to the farm store and pick up a couple of chicks for company. I'm definitely getting a post office box in my old town, they cared as t he postmaster raises chickens too.
