they'reHISchickens :

It's late, but they are finally finished so I could move them to their temporary box.
For those who asked: Here are pics of the egg flat. I REALLY liked the way it worked.https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/uploads/17886_100_1725.jpg
This was one flat in an LG. The active chicks went over and around the flat. There was plenty of room so no one was stuck.

The egg shells are exactly the way they hatched.

and then of course, you want the babies:

I had a lot of quitters but expected a lot from stale eggs. Final result: 4 FCBMs, 1 splash orp and 6 blue egg EEs. Grandkids are gonna have FUN!

Thank you for posting these pictures of the egg carton! I am really going to give this a try...I need to find a large flat now.
Your babies are a beautiful color. Those blues! Are you going to keep some of the blue EEs? I would looove to have a couple that color. I do have one girl, and she is beautiful...but I think she is going to lay a blue/green egg, since that's what she came out of. I see in your carton, one is just a beautiful blue color. I want some eggs in my nest boxes that color! My grand kids would love it!
Thanks again for posting. This will help a lot of folks decide if they want to try the egg carton method. I've hatched lots, and I know I want to try now.

I have it on video! I set my iphone on top of the incubator and set it to record. It is like 10 mins long. I am trying to send it to myself now and then upload it.

Video? Yaaay!! Are they hatching now??

Mrs. Fluffy Puffy :

I had to help another Serama out.

It was also all sticky and has foot problems. I'm totaly going to dry incubate next time.

Question, I'm incubating some other eggs in my 1588 HB, I've been adding water, would it hurt the eggs not to add water anymore and "dry" hatch the rest of the incubation period?

Oh, another Qestion: I have two Serama eggs left in the incubator, I'm pretty sure I felt both kick inside the egg. Does that mean they're just not ready to pip yet or what?

I didn't mark this batch of Seramas, so I don't know when I put some of them in the incubator.

I've been keeping better records now, though.

I have a 1588 also and love it. I do what is called a dry hatch. It isn't completely dry like some people think, you do want some in there. I keep mine around high 20's. Or, it may even go down some during the incubation period. I don't worry too much about humidity while I'm incubation. I just make sure I have mine up during lockdwon. Less worry for sure, and it sure helps the moisture in the eggs release.
Oh, and yes, always, mark your dates on the calendar. Not only does it come in handy in knowing when they are due to go into lock down and to hatch, but later, you will want to know/remember when they hatched so you can get an idea as to when they are due to start laying.

You can do the floating test..put them in some warm water, I haven't done it, so can't say that I have, but I hear they will move or roll in the water if they are still alive. Or, just candle them.. Anyone else here ever do the water test? Would be interesting to hear results.
Pictures, of your hatched babies!!
