Your packaging was eggcellent! I can't see into the Marans, a couple cells are loose but I'm going to keep them in the incubator anyway and give them a chance. I'm going to candle soon to see who is developing - I'll keep you posted

OK I gotta know.

Have you candled them yet?

So Sorry slacking with my BYC Updates!! Couldn't candle the Marans but my hatch was due today and I got 2 cute lil' Silkie babies

One of the Marans eggs started to sweat 3 days ago so I threw it out. Giving the other 2 another day or so...maybe. The others didn't develop...probably due to heat temps. But the Silkies are cute, I'll take a picture of them and post it

Egg swaps are so fun

Getting ready to run out for the day, but wanted to say I have my eggies in lockdown. Several didn't mak it and not sure about 2, but hoping for a couple of those Partrdge Cochins!!!

AWEEEEE.......It's too cool to see our babies. Granddaughter made me stay on the pics for 5 minutes ohing and awing. I hope you get some Marans out of this hatch. My girls haven't laid in about 2 weeks. I need them to start spitting them out, so I can get a younger flock started. I hope you like your little Silkies. I only had one hatch so far and a few that were shrink wrapped

I'd like to hatch out a few more of them. My blues should be starting to lay any time now I think.

Fingers crossed for those Marans!

Just candled the Cayuaga Duck Eggs from Chickenlover54 and 5 out of the 6 look good. Moving them from the incubator to the hatcher on the 26th so I will have new duck babies soon.

Been fighting to get back online.

Any of the Marans eggs hatch??????????

Day 23 now and nothing. Not even from my birds.

I'm soooo depressed. It would make since if I only used one incy and not 3. It's got to be something I'm doing or not doing, but 20 eggs (ok some iffy) in lockdown and not a chick in sight.

I'm going to candle them and see if anything is moving. I've had day 25 hatches before, but that was unusual.

I so wanted these Cochin to make it. And my Marans! I don't have a single chick from my birds and supposed to building up a new flock.

Wish I could figure this out. I used to be good at this.

I had a horrible time hatching Marans eggs until I started using super-fine sandpaper to sand off the color in stripes running top to bottom (like pumpkin ridges go?) all round the egg. I got 80% in the hatches after that from local eggs.

ReallY? What does that do?

BTW checked all the eggs in lockdown and most were quiters and a few that didn't go more than maybe a few days. No babies

I had 2 Cochins that had started, but quit like the others. I swear I used to be good at this and I can't get a hatch or a decent hatch at all this year.

It allows proper evaporation so they don't drown at the end. The brown coating keeps them from losing too much water, and it helps to give them a boost!
