Our broody BO is in lock down. I candled last night for the last time until she hatches out her babies. I Think the ones the other broody left Might possibly hatch as well. Which would be Very cool. We'll see. Fingers crossed for healthy peeps that don't get smooshed or suffocated by mama hen. That would be bad.
The hatching continues! So far, we have a total of 10 hatched, of which I am sure of 3 Frizzles, a Serama, and two Buff Laced Polish that just popped out in the last couple of hours. Here are a pics of a couple of my determined little mommas, with their results so far:
Oops! Sorry they're so big. In that second pic, do you hear the hen say, "Step away from the chickies, and nobody gets hurt!"?
12 blue/splash & 2 buff Orps eggs into lockdown today. When I candled, as I was switching them to the hatcher, I noticed that four seem farther behind in development, like the egg just isn't as dark and full looking, but all still had tiny dancers. We'll see! Anyone else have this before? How did they do?
when I have seen that the chick/egg is alittle further behind, it usually takes them an extra day or so to hatch but as long as temperature and humidity were right, they did just fine.
I have 28 eggs in lockdown, I have 2 due on the 9th, and 26 due the 10th!
I am hearing little peeps coming from our BO broody!!! I am soo excited!!! I am going to Guess that it is from one of the eggs the other broody had been sitting on. Which would be soo awesome!! I am going to move the nest tonight into the broody hen tractor and let her finish hatching out the rest of her brood in peace. It is just soo flippin' hard to not keep peeking in on her in all my excitement. I really do hope that she is a good mama and not like the last BO that smothered two chicks.
