So far so good with my incubation! 4 out of 5 eggs are developing in my LG

I have yet to candle the eggs under my broody...I plan on doing that Friday, I'm sure she's way ahead of me though

I have had my worst hatch yet. Out of 15 shipped Houdan eggs I have 4 chicks. I also have 9 bantam Cochin eggs not one has hatched.

One of my Houdan chicks appears to have a twisted neck. It is getting around but it is not straightening out. All the chicks took forever to hatch. It took well over 24 hours for them to hatch after they pipped. The one with the twisted neck is the largest and it took him well over 24 hours to hatch from first pip. I still have the twisted neck one and another late hatcher in the incubator. I don't know what to do with my poor little chick!

I will post pics when I have all the chicks together. Houdans are adorable babies.

Well well well onto day 16 and here we are so far out of 20 button eggs 6 have hatched, one was suicidal. It kept getting under the plastic liner in the bator and I kept having to get it out. Then when I moved it to the brooder, it decided that drowning would be fun. I unfortunately did not get there fast enough

he was my favorite as he was solid yellow. Out of 18 courtnix eggs I think we are up to 7 now since another just hatched while I watched. (awesome to watch!) One courtnix chick died before I got up this morning. I don't know what happened he was the second to hatch so the first two to hatch were my only casualties. So far we are doing alright considering they are hatching a few days early. I am a happy camper but these little guys are NUTS! LOL. I raised bobs from egg to adult but these guys are a trip and a half especially the buttons.

So the temp is doing pretty good and with the babes hatching the humidity is fantastic. Hopefully we stick with it for the next week. Since apparently thats how long this hatch could take..... keep in mind I have Manchurian Goldens set two days after the originals were to hatch. So we are looking at lockdown on them thursday, even though I already had to remove the turner thanks to the buttons trying to play hangman in it. So it will be an eventful week to say the least. So, my ducks that were supposed to hatch neatly on 1 weekend and then the next have decided they are just going to hatch when-ever they feel like it and nothing I tell them about proper incubation periods will sway them. The first one hatched 3 days early, the second one hatched 1 day early, the 3rd one hatched the next weekend a day early, two of them obeyed the rules and hatched on the hatch day, one of them hatched a day late, one of them hatched three days late, one of them from the first group hatched a week late with the second group (or right on time I suppose, since it's a muscovy mix), and now I have one that I can't decide if it's trying to hatch 3 days late or 6 days early.

But I do need some help. I posted the long story here: https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=372961 but the short story is... if you've got an egg that's not ready to hatch and you know it's pipped externally but not internally, what do you do aside from just making sure the membrane doesn't dry out? It pipped on the border between air cell and death and due to the dislocated air cell (and the other deaths concerning misplaced air cells), I am worried.

It's day 2 of our lockdown mode, and already a few of our eggs are showing signs of life (movement, peeps, and such). Two of the Buff Brahma eggs already have cracks in them. One of them is in the progress of zipping while the other is just starting to crack through the shell. It's so exciting, and yet, it's so hard to be patient.

I bought some fertilized eggs for my broody and they're due to hatch TODAY! I'm going out of my tree waiting for something to happen. I'm going to be thoroughly disappointed if nothing hatches - are they more likely to start at night?
