Well, Ok..... I have a peachick whose gender is unknown. I had no idea peafowl were born with giant pinfeathers on their wings already. I saw them while it was hatching and I thought NO WHY ARE THERE RIBS SHOWING AHHHH but then I realized I'm tired.

The second peachick is just hanging out and the duckling is hanging in there. Still 2 duck eggs sitting in the carton and 2 peacock eggs there too, all unpipped. Please oh please let the other two peacock ones hatch

I dont know what happened to my subscription, but Im not getting all the messages!!

I am SO EGGSITED!!!! I got my Brinsea octagon 20 eco (the basic one) today!!! I looked at the directions, set it up, figured out where to plug it up and it was up to temp in like 3 minutes!!!! AWESOME!!!!
My styrofoam ones literally took a couple days to get to temp, figuring out where the temp I needed was.

It has the glass therm in it and thats all Im going to use. It doesnt match my walmart digital therm/hygrometer and Im not using a hygrometer. Instructions say to fill 1 water chamber for incubating, both for hatching, so thats what Im going to do.

I also won the octagon 10 on ebay today!! It has no fan but I have read good things about it. I figure I will use it for overflow eggs, like when ppl send a couple xtras.

I am watching the R COM 20 bator on ebay as well. Man, I would love to have that one!!!!

I have turken eggs from an ebayer, and blue turken eggs from Nava on the way. Excited to have the brinsea to put them in!!!! Expecting 1 set of eggs tomorrow.....and the bator is running, stable and ready.

Have a hatch set for July 16, then July 25. My last hatch was a bust...only 3 questionable made it to lockdown, none hatched.

Wow, I'm totally green with envy, clothdiaperingmom. I have to rely on broodies to hatch my babies. REALLY want an incubator, but I haven't gotten one because the temp in my house is nowhere near stable.

Good luck with all your babies!

Wow I bet that is the Brinsea Octagon 20 that I was looking at on eBay a couple days ago. If it's the same one, it is super nice. Gratz on your new bator!!

And Kedreeva has peafowl!!!

I am so envious! Perhaps next year I'll branch out a bit. We already have geese, ducks, guineas, and chickens. A cousin of mine had the basic peafowl with the iridescent feathers and I'd just stand there and gaze at it. Definitely one of God's best ideas!

After spending an hour laughing at keets running backward in the brooder hutch while trying to catch bugs, and watching chicks do tumbling runs an Olympic gymnast would be proud of, I feel that I've found one of the most entertaining and productive ways to help our Mother Earth support me and all of us. I hope more municipalities start allowing residents to at least get a feel of the Earth through chickens. They're great!

Ok so there's still one pipped in there, will have to wait until I get home to see if it's made any progress BUT! Here is the one that is out.

Here she is in a purple blanket cavenest (the blanket on my bed.... sooooo purple)

And here we are, leaning into my fingers. She's a super cuddle bug.

All she wanted to do all night was make this wheep! Wheep! Wheep! noise and unlike the chickens and the ducks she wouldn't stop when I went over and said something to her! Of course I'm a sucker and I took her out and brought her to bed with me for the rest of the night >.> She slept in the crook of my arm under the pillow quietly until it was time for me to go to work. *dies* I need a name for her!

Octagon 20's are really nice machines, but I'd encourage anyone wanting one to check Brinsea's website because the incubator is on sale for $99.99, with the turner priced at $49.99. Can you actually get it cheaper on eBay or another website? Just sayin'. I got mine recently and it's a dream.
