It's been about 5 hours since any of them did anything. Can still hear them cheeping though.

It can... but the first one pipped.. about 20 hours ago technically.
She made some progress since this morning... but... more or less just made the hole bigger... none of the pips including that one have progressed any bigger than 1/4th of an inch.

KNEW I shouldn't have gotten my hopes up. KNEW IT.

I can just hear them peeping but they aren't moving or really even making any progress at all. This is just like the first time. They got right up on the shell that time and then died there. Literally. With their beak against the shell.

I have no idea what happens after that its just a waiting game I guess. I dont know exactly when mine pipped I only noticed the hole this morning for the first time and these are my very first chicks so I am as lost as you are.

I wish someone would chime in soon

The forum keeps me occupied so I don't keep looking but this is enough to drive me to smoke again.

I had a little jersey giant that pipped and 22 hrs later had made no progress. The membrane was like tough leather. I read the post on helping out and decided to try. I zipped for the check but only the shell. I very carefully chipped the shell in little tiny pieces all the way around the shell, and ever so carefully started a tear at the pip in the membrane. 2 hours later, the chick had finally hatched. I am sure it would have never made it if I hadn't helped. It is now 4 days old and doing wonderfully!
