Yeah, I’ve always ordered from Meyer and had nothing but good things. I did order from Idealthis year only because Meyer didn’t have the breeds I wanted but I’ve ordered from Meyer 3 times (2 chick orders and an egg order) and they’ve always gotten the breed and sex right. Even the free chick I added the first time was an extra of a breed I had already ordered and was female. My eggs it was my first hatch ever and they were all fertile and out of 13 eggs, 10 made it to lockdown and 9 chicks hatched. I did end up with 8 roosters out of it but that is not their fault. I have had nothing but good things all been healthy and happy gorgeous chickens too. They also have a 100% sexing guarantee on chicks so I would let them know for sure.

I hatched the eggs and I was glad I got a rooster I was just saying to let you all know

Final chick hatched today.
Last of the three. Shimakaze as a bit of a play on hatch time. It was the only remaining egg in the abandoned nest.
With this hatch it's fair to say it was a swedish duck and Peking duck that mated. My lake has a large population of feral domesticated ducks. So it's no major surprise I guess. Usually mallards and such stay with their nests and defend it vigorously. But domestic ducks seem to have the instinct to abandon nest and don't seem to be especially broody.

So 4 out of 5 eggs hatched. I don't really know what actually happened to the last egg.
So that concludes my 2020 hatching. I honestly didn't expect it to last past early june when the 4h duck for my niece hatched.

Funny how a few days hatch separation can also affect their sizes so much. The growth of ducklings so quickly always amazes me.

Gonna see about setting up a crate in the coop today because Freckles was on the wrong nest again!! I think you guys might be right about her being pushed out of the nest and then maybe she just forgets which one is hers or something? the eggs weren’t cold cause another hen was on them so that’s a plus. Maybe she just got shoved off this morning or something. There was a new egg in her nest.

Do you have a large dog crate you could give her? You could fix up part by enclosing it for her privacy, for the nest, and part for a bit of a run where you can put her food & drink.

Well, I am beyond angry.
My Hova Bator got my Salmon FAvorelle eggs all the way up to 114 degrees. I have an alarm on my phone from the calibrated thermometer/humidor, but it gives a tone like my news feed that I don't check or hear all the time. But with the damn thing set to just 100.5, why on earth did it keep heating up? I checked it late this morning, put water in it and the humidity and everything else was just fine....as it has been for almost 2 stinking weeks. Now all those eggs, which were doing well, are toast.
I feel like ripping the stupid Styrofoam piece of crap to shreds. The heater shouldn't be turning itself on if the temp goes over 100.
I am so mad I could spit nails.
It's not from sun or anything else. Sunlight never reaches the sideboard I have it sitting on.

Do you have a large dog crate you could give her? You could fix up part by enclosing it for her privacy, for the nest, and part for a bit of a run where you can put her food & drink.

Yeah, I do and I think I am going to set that up in the morning. I’m worried the crate might be a little too big for the coop but I’m not sure. I’m gonna try it and se and get a smaller one if necessary ha but so far she’s been back on the right nest tonight so I think that’s good but I still would like to put her in a crate so it doesn’t happen again.

My husband and I tried to figure out what could have gone wrong, and nothing looks off. The temp alarm did go off, my phone was on it’s charger when the temp started to go up. I checked on the unit last at 2:30 this afternoon. All was fine. The temperature started rising at 7:30. By 11 pm when I checked it before going to bed, it had reached 118*, and the water cap I have in it was dry as a bone. The set temp hasn’t been touched, it still reads that it’s set for 100.5.
I guess I need to contact the place I bought it from and see what they say. All we can figure out is that the thermostat went out or something.
8 perfectly viable Salmon Faverolles are now dead. I am just sick.

That's heartbreaking. I've heard good things about Hovabator. I hope you share what they come back with.

Time to lock down! Got up early... candled everything... weighed everything... took pictures and did a little happy dance! When I candled on day seven it looked like I had fewer viable than when I candled today so yeah for not tossing anything too soon!
