That's a bummer! I was looking at muscovy the other day but didn't take the plunge. I'm not sure I want that much work.
I used to have Muscovy and loved them. But they are of the duck family and while not as messy as most ducks, messier than chickens. The nice thing about Muscovy is that they can live with chickens very well and don't need a pool/pond/tub to be healthy. They like it, but don't need it.
If there was a way I could contain them here at my new place so that they would not swim down the creek and be gone, I'd get them again.

Got a new brighter handheld flashlight today and used it to gently peek at my Biele eggs while leaving them in the bator. It's only day 3 1/2 but I can see some small red spiders! Yay!
In order to help the jiggly air cells I'm doing my best to keep my hands off these eggs. A proper candling and maybe a weigh in won't be until day 7, but I'm cautiously optimistic to see something happening in there.
:ya

I may have ordered some eggs again. Oopsie  Don't know how these things suddenly happen.

I sell mix pullets and even though I focus most on health and good temperament, I also want to have nice attractive colors and patterns. Laced Wyandotte, Partridge Brahma and Maran will provide some of that I think.

I got some of my own eggs in the incubator already, so it's gonna be a tough squeeze once the ordered eggs are here.

Mine thinks it’s a chicken I think

So excited!!:wee I bought 10 standard cochin chicks last night at an auction. I think they are going to be splash. I have been looking for standard cochin since MAY. They are hard to find around here. Also got 4 lavender Orpingtons that are about 6/7 weeks old to replace the ones I lost last weekend. I told my son it was like they were reincarnated. I lost 4 and there they were in a cage with 4 in it. I think it was meant to be.:clap

Yay! So glad to hear you found the babies you wanted.

One thing I miss here that I used to do at my previous farm, was go to the poultry auctions. So. Many. Chicks!

How do you find poultry auctions?
I found my local one through a friend there who knew, but if you have a weekly agricultural newspaper sometimes they will list the weekly results for the various items, like grain, cattle, pigs, poultry....
Also, you can ask at your local feed/supply stores. Usually if there is one around they probably know. Maybe not every employee knows about them, but sometimes. Check their bulletin boards too for flyers, and lastly maybe check the area craigslist. I do see them from time to time about an hour from me, but those are mostly cattle and sheep as those are the bigger ag items in my area now.
Oh, and maybe your local ag extension office or cooperative may know too.
